"People & Places"

New Work by: Angela Vinson
For about two years now Angela Vinson's work has shifted from nonrepresentational to figurative abstract imagery. In May 2010 she created a body of work titled, “Caricatures,” to explore the figurative idea. She created a survey and had local community leaders, friends, family and strangers fill out their favorite color, number of family members, and their favorite things. The answers people provided sparked the painting, sculpture and pottery series. The series led to several commissions for families wanting their family rendered in her abstract style. In October 2011 Angela created another series of paintings titled, “Continuous Path,” expanding more on the figurative theme and started including environments for the figures. "People & Places" continues the idea of people and places on their journeys. The works are often an expression of her relationships, friends and family relationships, and the connections between them. Angela is interested in the how relationships change during our own personal journeys.
